The catalog for the book collection is available online and can be reached by any of the public access terminals in the Main Reading Room or the Library web page if at home. The non-fiction books are arranged by subject using the Dewey Decimal system and all other books are shelved by author’s last name.

Online Databases

These databases are paid for by Woodland Community College Library as a service to library cardholders. Available on campus or from home with a password.

Aztlan: A Journal of Chicano Studies - Aztlán presents original research that is relevant to or informed by the Chicano experience. An interdisciplinary, refereed journal, Aztlán focuses on scholarly essays in the humanities, social sciences, etc.

Black Thought and Culture - More than 100,000 pages of monographs, speeches, essays articles, and interviews written by leaders within the black community from earliest times to 1975. Includes the only full run of The Black Panther - the party's newspaper - and 2,500 pages of oral history interviews recorded by the former Black Panther, David Hilliard.

CountryWatch - This database offers a variety of information on specific countries including an overview of the country, political and economic conditions, and environmental issues. It also includes wire service stories for each country. This is the best place to start researching a country.

CQ Researcher - A weekly publication covering political, economic, and social issues.

Credo Reference - Credo Reference enables users to find authoritative answers fast. It features content from hundreds of reference books in a broad range of subjects.

Current Issues: Reference Shelf, Environment, & Health (WilsonWeb) - Full-text articles from respected publications, chosen to make up a well-rounded overview, and organized by topic for easy access.

E-Books (NetLibrary) - Comprehensive collection of electronic books providing access to a wide range of research, reference, and reading materials. To access NetLibrary off-campus you must create an account on-campus first. Please visit the reference desk for additional information.

Encyclopedia Britannica - Use this resource for online access to the full-text of the Encyclopedia Britannica, the Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and Thesaurus, World Atlas, country comparisons, and much more!

Historical NYT - The New York Times (1851-2005) offers full page and article images with searchable full text back to the first issue. The collection provides access to every page from every available issue.

Latino Literature - More than 200 novels, hundreds of short stories, 20,000 pages of poetry, and more than 400 plays, with  selected works of particular importance in Spanish. The collection includes early 19th century Chicano writers in the Southwest to more contemporary works.

Literary Criticism (Contemporary) - Access to extensive biographical and critical information on over 600 contemporary authors & their literature.

NewsBank - Find current and archived local, state, and national articles on issues, events, people, government and more with the collection of full-text newspapers and other sources featuring the Daily Democrat (8/16/04-Current),  Davis Enterprise (8/3/97-Current), New York Times (1995-Current), and the San Francisco Chronicle (1985-Current).  Includes Access Broadcast Transcripts, Access Business News, Access Military, Government, and Defense, Acceda Noticias, and the Sacramento Bee Image edition.

Nursing Resource Center - Online access to the full-text of reference books and articles in Nursing, biomedicine, health sciences, consumer health and allied health disciplines.

Pro & Con Online - Online versions of Congressional Digest, Supreme Court Debates, and International Debates. Each debate includes an introduction and several opinions both for AND against the issue.

ProQuest - An online collection of over 3300 periodicals (magazines, journals, and a few newspapers) with most available in full-text.

RAND - RAND California is a subscription-based service on California and U.S. public policy issues with an emphasis on statistics.

Testing & Education Reference Center - Over 100 practice tests and courses compliment information on over 4,000 accredited schools and a career assessment module with a virtual library of career information.

Theatre in Video - Contains more than 250 definitive performances of the world's leading plays, together with more than 100 film documentaries and the complete works of Shakespear. It includes landmark performances by Claire Bloom, Laurence Olivier, Colleen Dewhurst, Richard Dreyfuss, Walter Matthau, Meryl Streep, Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren and more.
