Woodland Communty College Academic Senate

Academic Senate LogoThe Academic Senate is an organization whose primary function is to make recommendations to the administration of the college and to the governing board with respect to academic and professional matters. The roles and responsibilities of the local Academic Senate are spelled out in two state venues:

      1. Education Code
      2. California Code of Regulations, Title 5

It is the right of the Academic Senate to assume primary responsibility for making recommendations in the areas of curriculum and academic standards and in establishing minimum qualifications and equivalencies for faculty. Furthermore, the governing board and the Academic Senate must jointly develop all faculty hiring criteria, policies and procedures. Other rights and responsibilities of the Academic Senate are delineated in the documents listed above. For a summary of those rights and responsibilities, click here.

While the YCCD Academic Senate welcomes and even encourages the interest and opinions of our classified staff colleagues, management colleagues, and students, all recommendations on academic and professional matters will come from the official voice of the faculty--the Academic Senate.
