Student Trustee Stephen Frothingham

stephen frothinghamStephen Frothingham recently took his oath of office at the June 17, 2009 Yuba Community College District (YCCD) Board of Trustees meeting and became the new Student Trustee for 2009-10.  He is currently attending Yuba College and will serve as the YCCD Student Trustee for a year.  His votes, though advisory, provide a student voice in the Board’s decision making.

Stephen was born in New York City and has lived all over the U.S., Honduras, and South Korea.  He is a Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, currently serving in the Army Reserves and works at the Yuba College Beale Outreach Site.

Stephen works with the Marysville Veterans Memorial Center as the Building Operations Manager, volunteers for Amicus Books Literary Arts Center, is a part of their Marysville CAN Council, and will be elected Adjutant of American Legion Post 42 in July of this year.

He is studying Business Administration in Accounting and plans to transfer to Berkeley for his Bachelors in Science.  Following this, he plans on testing for his CPA and attending Stanford for his MBA.  Stephen aims to use his education to open a business in International Accounting and start a school of languages learned through culture immersion.

Stephen aims to work with the student body, faculty and administration to develop more efficient communication channels.  His primary goal is to foster a mentality of greater student involvement with the decisions made district wide. “This is your college experience and an indelible part of your life, whether you are taking just one class or six,” said Frothingham.  “You owe it to yourself to make it the best experience possible.”
